This broadside was inspired by Joni Mitchell's Circle Game, which I sang often to my son when he was small--usually with tears in my eyes, treasuring the moments. It was commissioned for a friend's birthday, honoring her relationship with her grandchild. I used two different reduction cut linoleum blocks, cool old wood and metal type, and custom mixed ink colors. It was quite a challenge to get his little face right, carving away the lino block and printing various shades of tans and blues. It ended up to be 13 passes through the press (if I counted correctly!). Frame not included.
